Completing its TENTH SEASON: The DEERING ESTATE CHAMBER ENSEMBLE (DECE) is comprised of founding members: José R. López, piano (Florida International University), Ross Harbaugh, cello (University of Miami), Scott Flavin, violin (University of Miami), and Laura Wilcox, viola (Miami Youth for Chamber Music-MyCM). This ensemble came together out of a mutual respect for nature and the beautiful Deering Estate with a love to perform chamber music, work with living composers, and interact with history, nature and other art forms. DECE have received numerous awards including the Met-Life Foundation/Meet the Composer and from Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs, and performances in New York City.

This season, DECE members are looking forward to bringing music celebrated at the Deering Estate to other concert venues. Last season, Jose R. Lopez released a new CD with Toccata Classics: Alkan – Complete transcriptions, Vol. I (Mozart) which has been receiving raving reviews, including from the Sunday Times of the London Times. This season Lopez has released a new compilation of rare romantic piano works by Cuban composer: José Comellas.
