From December 10 to 14, the Coral Gables Museum will welcome the monks of the Gaden Shartse Phukhang Monastery as they create a breathtaking sand mandala in the Fewell Gallery.
This ancient Buddhist practice, rich with centuries of tradition, promotes healing and introspection. The event offers a rare glimpse into sacred artistry and encourages mindfulness and a deep connection to culture.
The Gaden Monastery, founded in 1409 by Tsongkhapa, has a remarkable history of resilience. It re-established itself in India after the Chinese invasion of Tibet. Today, the monks continue to share their message of peace, compassion, and cultural preservation worldwide while raising funds to improve their community’s living conditions.
This event aligns with our Art for Healing initiative, showcasing the profound connection between creativity, mindfulness, and well-being.
