11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Storytime

The Ready, Set, Go Miami! and The Children’s Trust –Parent Club initiative invites families and caregivers of young children of all abilities to engage in activities that promote and develop healthy early literacy skills in daily life. During Storytelling we aimed to achieve the following: Explore the ways that shared reading experiences both with and without a book support language development and early literacy skills. Examples of activities and strategies that increase comprehension, participation, interest in reading, and vocabulary will be shared. The goal is to spark ideas to enrich shared reading experiences.

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Artmaking

Dive into the world of collage inspired by Jorge Tacla’s exhibition “A Memoir of Ruins.” In this hands-on project, participants will create their own cityscapes, exploring themes of urban decay, resilience, and memory. Families will layer and build cityscapes that reflect the fragility and transformation of buildings over time. This activity is suitable for all ages and encourages creative expression while connecting with the themes of our current exhibition.
