BEAUTY AND VALUE

Works by Carlos Alberto Fernández

 July 29th – November 8th, 2021

Gallery 109 and Anthony R. Abraham Family Gallery

This exhibition is comprised of recent paintings and sculptures by Coral Gables-based artist Carlos Alberto Fernández. A master of transparency, color, and light, Fernandez has long been fascinated by birds and flowers. In his most recent series, he combines circular formats and numismatic language in works that resemble coins. With them, he prompts us to reflect on the relationship between aesthetic beauty and monetary value in art as a whole.

Carlos Alberto Fernández (Havana, Cuba, 1967) studied Painting at the Academy of Art “San Alejandro” (1994) and Industrial Design at the Institute of Industrial Design (1989) Havana, Cuba. Since 1990, he has been actively exhibiting internationally in countries such as England, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, France, Jamaica, Greece, Austria, Nicaragua, Cuba and the US. His public art projects can be found in the Sunny Isles Beach Access, Florida; Marina D’or, Castellón, España; Riviera Hotel and Florida Hotel, Havana, Cuba. Among other collections, his work is featured in the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum.
