PD days at the museum are designed for MDCPS teachers. Teachers may register through the district’s “My Learning Plan” for master plan points. Professional workshops at CGM are aimed at developing new ways to include 21st. century skills among students through process-based learning models and resources.
Workshops feature subject area experts and leaders focusing on promoting an experiential (hands-on) approach to curriculum-based lessons, exploring art integration ideas, and engaging participants with museum’s space and resources as main tools for creating relevant curriculum for their classes.
Teachers will create their own lessons integrating communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Each workshop will invite an expert in an area of interest, who will introduce content and activities relevant to curricular needs. These applied skills are cultivated through engaging conversations and hands-on activities designed to spark innovation, collaboration and problem solving, while simultaneously expanding digital literacy and career/life skills, among other research-based benefits.
