On View Jul 1 – Sep 6, 2026

Organized by The Allapattah Collaborative CDC and presented in partnership with Coral Gables Museum, Many Voices, One Nation, En Nuestras Palabras is a bilingual exhibition developed through the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street initiative as part of the national commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Through oral histories, archival photographs, historical documents, and personal narratives, the project explores the people, traditions, and experiences that have shaped Allapattah and contributed to the evolving story of America. Using one of Miami’s most culturally significant neighborhoods as its point of departure, it connects local histories with larger conversations about cultural exchange, identity, and belonging.

Selected as one of only ten organizations nationwide to participate in the Smithsonian initiative, The Allapattah Collaborative CDC worked alongside the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street and the National Museum of American History to create a locally rooted interpretation of the American experience.

Presented in English and Spanish, Many Voices… invites visitors to reflect on the enduring meaning of E pluribus unum, “Out of many, one,” through the voices, memories, and contributions of the communities that continue to shape South Florida.

The presentation will be accompanied by public programs, conversations, and family activities that further explore the histories and traditions represented throughout the installation.
