TMP is a teen-led volunteer and education initiative designed to engage youth in the civic arts of architecture, urban design, and visual arts while fostering leadership skills and community involvement. The program is led by a Teen Board of Directors, ensuring that the teens have a voice in shaping activities and projects that align with the Coral Gables Museum’s mission. The student’s work with and through our institution includes volunteer workshops, field trips, and professionally guided projects such as a curated art exhibit supported by museum staff.

What We Do

The Museum Project (TMP) partners with the Coral Gables Museum to provide teens with opportunities to engage in arts and culture through volunteer-led initiatives. At Family Days, TMP members lead younger children in hands-on art activities that encourage creativity and connection. During free-admission Gallery Nights, volunteers assist in supervising events and post-event organization.

TMP also hosts Teen Takeovers, fully designed by volunteers, featuring live music, interactive workshops, and artistic experiences that bring the community together. Beyond event leadership, TMP members participate in field trips to cultural institutions like the Pérez Art Museum and the Beaux Arts Festival, deepening their appreciation for Miami’s vibrant arts scene.

Through these initiatives, TMP fosters student engagement by connecting youth with museum resources and promoting accessibility, ensuring teens play an active role in shaping museum culture. The program meets monthly and supports 2-3 museum events each month, where volunteers assist in event setup, facilitation, and visitor engagement. By joining TMP, teens gain leadership, organizational, and event-planning experience while contributing to a thriving arts community.

Get Involved!
For Students

Students can participate in The Museum Project by completing the Interest Form, with rolling admissions and a response time of 1-2 days after submission. Through TMP, students gain hands-on experience in arts and culture, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and contribute to museum events such as Family Days, Gallery Nights, and Teen Takeovers. By joining, students not only engage in creative projects but also build connections with their community while gaining valuable event-planning and organizational experience.

For Educators

For Educators and Cultural Institutions: Educators can engage with TMP by connecting their students to volunteer opportunities, sharing TMP events with their school communities, or inviting TMP members to speak about arts engagement and museum accessibility. Schools are encouraged to partner with TMP to give students an enriching experience in creativity, collaboration, and leadership outside the classroom. Museums and cultural institutions can also collaborate with TMP by incorporating teen leadership into their programming, engaging young people in museum events, and providing them with opportunities to contribute through teen-led workshops, panels, and interactive experiences. These partnerships strengthen connections between institutions and local youth, fostering a deeper appreciation for art and culture while empowering the next generation of creative leaders.
